Buy Large Still Air Box (SAB) Sterile Workstation Online

The Large Still Air Box (SAB) Sterile Workstation (by Myco Labs / Blue Myco) provides a clean, controlled environment for essential mycology procedures where contamination control is critical. Designed for growers and researchers who want a reliable, beginner-friendly alternative to expensive laminar flow hoods, this portable tent dramatically reduces exposure to airborne mold spores and bacteria during sensitive lab operations.

Constructed from durable, transparent, scratch-resistant plastic, the workstation provides a spacious $30'' \times 20'' \times 21''$ interior area. Its fan-free, power-free design traps ambient air movement, allowing micro-particles to settle out of suspension so you can perform agar work, grain-to-grain transfers, and inoculations with maximum success rates.

Common Applications in Mycology

A Still Air Box is built specifically for the critical stages where open-air contamination risks are highest:

Agar Plate Operations: Pouring petri dishes, subculturing agar wedges, and tissue cloning.
Grain-to-Grain (G2G) Transfers: Transferring fully colonized grain spawn into fresh sterilized grain jars or bags.
Liquid Culture Work: Inoculating, sampling, and expanding liquid culture jars or media.
Spawn Inoculation: Inoculating grain bags, BRF jars, and bulk substrates with spore or liquid culture syringes.

Step-by-Step Operating Protocol

Follow these handling guidelines to achieve optimal sterility inside your workstation:

1.Unfold & Position Workstation:Set up on a flat, clean surface.

Unfold the SAB tent in a quiet room free from HVAC drafts, open windows, or heavy foot traffic.

2.Sanitize Interior & Load Tools:Sanitize interior surfaces thoroughly.

Wipe down the inside walls and floor with Eco-Cleanse or 70% isopropyl alcohol. Load all required tools, jars, plates, and wipes inside before closing the access zipper.

3.Wait for Static Stabilization:Allow air currents to settle.

Let the workstation sit undisturbed for 10 to 15 minutes so any trapped airborne micro-particles settle to the bottom surface.

4.Perform Sterile Transfers:Work through elastic arm ports.

Insert hands through the elastic arm ports. Work deliberately with slow, smooth movements to prevent creating interior air turbulence.

5.Pack Away Cleanly:Collapse tent into storage case.

After completing transfers, sanitize interior surfaces, fold the tent down flat, and slide it into the protective storage case.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is a Still Air Box sufficient, or do I need a laminar flow hood?

A still air box is an affordable, highly effective entry point for sterile mycology. It handles most beginner and intermediate procedures (agar transfers, liquid culture, grain transfers) with high success rates. While it does not replace a HEPA laminar flow hood for large-scale production, it provides a cost-effective, portable solution for home cultivators.

How big is the interior working area?

The interior dimensions are $30'' \times 20'' \times 21''$ , providing ample vertical and horizontal space to manage multiple grain jars, spawn bags, agar dishes, and tools at the same time without crowding.

Do I need power or electricity to operate the SAB?

No. The Still Air Box is completely fan-free and requires no electricity. It relies on passive static air mechanics to eliminate interior air currents.

What is Eco-Cleanse Spray?

Eco-Cleanse is a 100% non-toxic, mycology-safe mold and bacteria inhibitor spray included in your kit. Unlike harsh chemicals, it kills contam agents without harming delicate mushroom mycelium or living mushroom tissue.

Upgrade Option: Eco-Cleanse Concentrate

Want extra cleaning capacity for ongoing mycology sessions? Upgrade your setup with Eco-Cleanse Concentrate (2oz bottle). Mixing 2oz of concentrate with water creates up to 64oz of non-toxic sanitizing solution to refill your spray bottle and keep your workstation contamination-free over repeat grows.
